Greetings saints,

“Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’ and the wind ceased and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39 NKJV). Jesus knows how to orchestrate an outreach–bringing peace where there is uproar and calm where there is turmoil. This was truly the atmosphere at the Union Gospel Mission on Fri Oct 15. Lives were touched and many came to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ for the first time.

A man just got out of prison and came to the Mission through referral of his probation officer. He stated he began using cocaine (crack) when released, getting caught-up in the vicious cycle of addiction and needing more of the drug as his obsession grew stronger. He stated he is a veteran of the U.S. Army and learned he has VA benefits he never used. After receiving salvation that night, he was in tears wanting to change his ways and commit his life to Jesus. His name is Johnny; please pray that he remain drug free as he uses his veteran’s benefits to start a new life.

Let’s rewind to the heart preparation, Johnny sat under an anointed praise and worship service lead by Sarah Castillo with her team of EPIC Bible College students. Minister Craig Crawford, also an EPIC student, preaches a word entitled “Stormy Weather,” describing how only Jesus can calm the storm in our life. The Holy Spirit did the rest by drawing Johnny to the altar, putting him in front of EPIC prayer warriors, and precipitating his life-experiencing transformation. Hallelujah.

I am excited to report we minister to men and women in like condition every third Friday of the month. Approximately nine other people stood at the altar that night. With your prayers and support, individuals can start afresh and claim Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.

As 2010 winds down, come join us at our next outreach November 19 when Pastor Michael Revell and New Covenant Fellowship (NCF) Worship Team leads praise accompanied by one of EPIC’s Alumni Danny Arroyo as the main speaker. We simply want to be vessels used by God as He continues to calm the storms and bring peace in the lives of the homeless.

“Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’ and the wind ceased and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39 NKJV). We believe Jesus can calm the “stormy weather” in people’s lives, just as he did in Johnny’s life.

God bless,
Minister Ron Smith
