Bubby Wallace: It is always an awesome sight to observe Almighty God at work at the Union Gospel Mission and on November 18, 2011 it was tremendous. Indeed, it is the small things in life that most of us seem to forget that God is still at work in. it was a rainy and stormy night down at the mission, and watching people from the streets come piling in to a nice warm building with cover over their heads, just filled my heart with joy. God truly cares about the little things in our lives and it really is amazing to know He cares about the homeless. God cares that His children are at work reaching out to those that desperately need a touch from
Him. This is why I have been volunteering at the Mission for 4 years so that I can be a part of the love God is pouring out onto each guest at the Mission- Philippians. 2:13), amen!
Daniel Clarke: It was an awesome Friday night at the mission. God, Himself moved. The enemy had been on the move earlier that day, everything seemed to be going wrong from trying to printing out my notes to finding someone to run the audio and video; but God. With only a few minutes left before leaving the college that afternoon, a friend called, who was available, able, and I believe appointed by God to run the audio and video. Alex William’s along with Sarah Castillo and band led praise and worship with songs of joy.
From there God said trust me and I will provide. With my notes printed too small to read, a Bible, and the Holy Spirit at my side I took the stage. The Holy Spirit led me through the message that “You are worth it!” The message centered on the Prodigal Son’s Father and how as the Prodigal Son turned, repented and started home, the father saw the son coming. The fact that he saw the son lets us know that he was looking and waiting for his return. When he saw the son, this rich land owner, this mighty man, this father, out of love for his lost son was willing to disgrace himself. He ran to his son, hugging this dirty, homeless, son with no sandals. He welcomed him back with a new robe, a ring, and sandals. This is the perfect picture of God the Father, who loves us s
o much He sent Jesus Christ, humbling Himself and become a man, disgracing Himself to die on a cross, because He loves us, his Prodigal Children. The message was well received by the homeless men and women at the Union Gospel Mission; those who were looking to their Father above for love and forgiveness, who have been waiting to hear the words, “I love you, you are worth it.” Many came to the altar where Epic prayer warriors prayed the prayer of faith with and for them all.
Please join us again on December 16th when Iris Lopez, accompanied by Juan Lopez Jr. & Alejandra Chavez, as they lead praise. Minister Ron Smith of Epic Bible College will deliver the word of faith. Remember God does care about the little things and if you commit to, what we consider little, God will bless in a BIG way. Sign up today as a volunteer in the Epic office and God bless you.
