UGM Archive | March 2010
Greetings saints,
A 47-year-old man — herein called Johnny — discharged from Rio Consumes Correctional Center (RCCC) in Elk Grove California the week of March 15, 2010 had no place to go. Johnny served approximately one year and had a serious drug addiction problem when arrested. Johnny attempted to seek help through family members and friends; however, because of his past behavior and burned bridges it was difficult for Johnny to get the assistance he so needed. Johnny’s mom, who lives out of state, accepted him in her home until he could find help.
Johnny was desperate to change and prove to himself and his loved ones that he was finished with drugs and the riotous lifestyle he grew accustomed. Johnny’s brother, who lives in Sacramento, made some phone calls that eventually led him to an affiliate of the Union Gospel Mission. The drug program, which houses 24 men, was full with no openings for several weeks. Johnny made a phone call to the UGM affiliate stating his seriousness to enter the drug program, turn his life over the Lord, and commit to change.
The next day God performed a miracle for Johnny and room became available. Johnny’s mom made hast to put him on Greyhound assuring his arrival to the Mission the following evening. Johnny’s intake was successful and he is now among men whose lives are transformed by the living word of God preached 365 nights a year. Hallelujah!
The vision of Epic Bible College visiting the Mission each month is to see lives transformed by Jesus. The praise and worship, in the month of March, was phenomenal as Pastor Michael Revell and the New Covenant Fellowship Worship Team brought us into God’s presents. Minister Wendell Rogers preached an awesome salvation message out of John 14 stating, “In My Father’s house, are many rooms.” An overwhelming (17) seventeen people came forward for prayer as approximately (30) thirty Epic Bible College prayer warriors earnestly wait to minister salvation, rededication and offer prayer for special request.
Join us next month April 16 as we celebrate Epic Bible College’s two-year anniversary ministering at the UGM. Iris Lopez will bless us as she leads praise and worship. Matthew Balling — known as Chosen the Theologian — will sing a special song with the lyrics on media viewing screen, and our very own President Dr. Ron Harden will bring an anointed message from our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Contact the college office today and find out how you can help men like Johnny secure a room in our Father’s house.
Minister Ron Smith
A Servant Like U
