Greetings saints,
The outreach to the Union Gospel Mission on Friday, January 21st was the beginning of what we know will be a tremendous year of ministering to the homeless of Sacramento. Many of the homeless find themselves there because of addictions. Addictions to Alcohol, Cocaine, Heroin, Opiates, Methamphetamine and Benzodiazepines are just a few of the known substances that hold individuals in bondage. We, at EPIC, are not afraid because of the gospel of Jesus Christ; we know it is the power of God unto salvation.
On this night the worship team, lead by Psalmist Billy Lambeth of Crossroads Church in Rocklin, CA, was prepared for battle as spiritual warfare waged in the heavenlies. A full band with musical instruments praised Him as Psalms 150 so eloquently spells out. The words displayed on the screen kept the crowd alive and active, as everyone seemed to participate in praising the Most High. Minister Donny sang a song he wrote specifically for those in need of redemption prior to the preaching of the Word.
Pastor Jose Rodriguez spoke a word that penetrated the heart of the people. The story of the death of Lazarus — in John 11 — conveyed in a way that identifies our behavior with that of Martha when she blamed Jesus for her family tragedy. Pastor also shared how God allows situations to go beyond the remedy of man so He (God) can get the glory and recognition. He confirmed that God is the only one who can bring us out of what we think is an impossible position in life. Those addicted to the above substances have hope in Jesus. Neither 30 years of addiction nor four days of death is beyond God’s healing power.
Eleven individuals came forth to receive salvation and rededication. The EPIC prayer warriors were standing by ready and administered the Love of Jesus. How awesome it is to witness people respond to the kingdom of heavens call. Join us next month as Matthew Balling and his crew lead praise and worship, tag teaming with Minister Dennis Gaxiola as he brings the word. They both have a unique gift of expressing God’s love in this modern Christian world. Contact the EPIC office today and help your school fight the good fight of faith in support of our local homeless shelter in the battle against alcohol & other drug addictions. Win souls for Christ!
