UGM Archive | April 2011
What a wonderful time in the Lord at the Union Gospel Mission on Friday 4/15/11. Although the evening started with a UGM staff reprimand for unacceptable behavior among the guest a plea went out to reduce the recent violence that occurred. Holy Spirit put a halt to any pandemonium once the service began.
The New Covenant Fellowship worship team out of Orangevale CA sang all original songs written by the group. The praise was anointed and a blessing to all under the resounding sounds of the instruments and animated worship. Many were dancing in the spirit and singing along as each faith-filled word displayed overhead.
Professor Sudborough — filled with the Spirit — preached a salvation message with the theme that “God is calling you home.” His call could read as the following, “Masterpiece of my creation, I miss you come back, where are you?” A statement spoken to Adam in the Garden of Eden; “Where are you?” God knows where you are, He wants you to acknowledge where you are so He can forgive your sin and have fellowship with the masterpiece He created.
After this burden removing, yoke destroying words from God many came forward to the altar and gave their lives to Jesus. I prayed with two gentlemen who both received salvation and who both had legal issues pending. After they confessed Jesus one said, “I am afraid to face what might happen to me if I turn myself in.” Keep in mind these are tall and stout men who are afraid. Holy Spirit once again to the rescue welled up inside and said
“God has not given you the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.” After this statement, a decision was made to face their fear, confront the legal issues and trust God to see them through. Praise the Lord.
We face this reality each month as people are hurting and reaching out for spiritual guidance. Come next month on May 20th when Sarah Castillo leads worship and Dr. Ron Harden will preach a word of liberation. Experience firsthand the spiritual condition of man at a homeless shelter. We need prayer warriors who can hear the heart cry of fearful men and deliver faith that can move their mountain. Amen.
