Greetings saints,
We began our third year of ministry at the Union Gospel Mission in April this year. Looking back over the last two years it has been an awesome privilege to serve the homeless population of Sacramento who now look forward to every third Friday of the month. Epic Bible College is on a mission of training lives and building character in students through the classroom setting and the mission field both local and abroad. Professors, current students, and alumni all work together in rotation bringing a different flavor of worship, word, and prayer warriors for one purpose – to advance the kingdom of God.
The Bible tells us in I Corinthians 3:7-9 (NIV), “So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.” How special it is to see people grow: both those ministering and those being ministered to.
On Friday April 16th the Spirit of the living God fell on the people like never before as Iris Lopez and her worship team led praise and worship. Matt Balling, known as “Chosen the Theologian,” offered up a sacrifice of praise through Christian rap and R&B. Daniel Clarke, who governs the media ministry, displayed the words on the screen while the audience — well over 120 in attendance — harmonized in one accord. The atmosphere was so rich of God’s anointing everyone in the building was subject to growth and change.
Dr. Ron Harden, who earnestly believes in training lives and building character, preached a message of hope from the book Exodus stating, “God knows you by name.” He taught on four points, which Jesus desires to accomplish in our lives. He desires us to 1) watch our expectations 2) watch our phrases and language 3) watch our behavior/actions and 4) be patient. After delicately laying the foundation — moved by these profound truths — thirteen individuals came forth to the altar because we believe Jesus called them by name.
Next month, on May 21st, Epic Bible College will do more planting and watering and watch God make things grow. Alex Williams & Miranda Tamashiro will team up to lead praise and worship while Minister Jose Rodriguez will bring forth the word of God. Our heart’s desire is for you to experience at least one UGM outreach this year and simply be a blessing to the men and women who have chosen the wrong path. Contact the Epic Bible College office today and let God use you to plant seed in the local mission field at the UGM.
Minister Ron Smith
A Servant Like You
