LRC/Library Policies & Resources

GENERAL GUIDELINES

The Learning Resource Center/Library at TLBC has been established to bring to you the best in educational and spiritual values thereby assuring that your time will be well spent with its use. Materials used from the library are considered to be for your personal service and are not to be loaned without permission from the librarian.

CIRCULATION POLICIES

Checkout
A total of 10 items may be checked out at any given time. Additional limits include: three items per subject, 1 Bible, 1 CD or Cassette tape, and 1 DVD or Videocassette (VHS) may be checked out at any given time.  The normal checkout period is two weeks for books, pamphlets, and audio media.  The checkout period for video media items (DVD or VHS) is one week.

Please return all checked out items to the Circulation Desk in Rm. 219.  If the LRC/Library is closed, items may be returned to the TLBC office.

Renewals
Items may be renewed one time only, (unless there is a hold on that item) for another two weeks.  Following a two-day or 48-hour waiting period, the same item(s) may be checked out again if there are no holds or previous requests for the item.  You may phone or come into the LRC/Library to renew your books.  Video media items (DVD or VHS) may not be renewed.

Holds
Holds may be placed on items that are currently checked out to another person. If there is a hold placed on a book, it cannot be renewed. The person placing the hold will receive a call, or written notice, when the item has been returned.  A $1.00 per day fee will be assessed for each book that has been placed on hold (and not returned by the due date) if the  current patron has been notified of the hold status on the book.

Overdue fines
A fine of $.25 a day per item occurs when books/times are not returned on time.Overdue fines for DVD’s and Videocassettes are $1.00 per day. When the overdue fines total $5.00 per item-the unreturned item will be considered lost, and the student will be charged the cost of the item plus a $15.00 processing fee.  This will automatically cancel any checkout privileges until reinstated by the Librarian as per Library policy.  A copy of such action will be placed in the student’s file.

Returning the item(s) in good condition will waive the outstanding charges for the item and the processing fee(s).  An overdue will be assessed and must be paid before person is reinstated to LRC/Library use.

Onsite Resources
The Trinity Life Bible College Learning Resource Center/Library
(LRC/Library) has open stacks of print materials.  LRC/Library users are free to browse and select books or other items to read in the LRC/Library.  LRC/Library staff can assist users in locating and retrieving and item if needed.  Much of LRC/Library materials are Circulating and can be checked out by current students, staff and faculty who have a TLBC ID card.  Some materials are for Reference or Research and are to be used only in the LRC/Library.  Some materials are not housed in the LRC/Library rooms and will need to be retrieved by an LRC/Library staff member; this may mean a delay in access to wanted materials.

Electronic Resources

In addition to actual print resources present in the LRC/Library, there are periodicals and books available over the internet on the LRC/LIbrary computers through NetLibrary E-Books and Proquest Periodical and Research Database.
