Doctor of Ministry

DOCTOR OF

MINISTRY

WHY A
DOCTOR OF MINISTRY?

WHO IS THE DOCTOR OF MINISTRY PROGRAM DESIGNED FOR?
Effective pastors who want to “push out into the deep” and wed Christ-centered spirituality and life-changing ministry.
Leaders of faith-based and parachurch institutions seeking to strengthen and deepen their practice of ministry.
Religious leaders seeking to renew and strengthen their vocational effectiveness through advanced ministry reflection.
Denominational and ecumenical executives who want to develop new ideas and practices about what it means to be a vital, cutting-edge community of faith in a rapidly changing world.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH A DOCTOR OF MINISTRY DEGREE?
The primary purpose of the DMin degree is to enable ministry leaders to engage fully their ministry context with greater theological depth and a wider practical perspective. DMin graduates also find opportunity to teach at the college and seminary level.

HOW IS THE DOCTOR OF MINISTRY PROGRAM STRUCTURED?
EPIC’s DMin program is based on a cohort model. You will study and interact with the same students and faculty in a preset curriculum over three years. This relational model encourages you to develop deep relationships with students and faculty as together you delve deeply into relevant issues facing ministers and ministries in today’s world.
Because our students are actively engaged in ministry, residency requirements are kept to a one-week of residency per year with an additional one week of orientation at the beginning of the program. While this keeps travel costs to a minimum and allows great flexibility of schedule, the student should know that the relational component in this program is of high value. Ministry by nature is isolating, so the week of residency and the weekly online check-ins are irreplaceable.

With a deep history of over 40 years in Sacramento, rooted in Biblically based higher education, EPIC Bible College now provides the opportunity for students to earn degrees from the Associates level through a Doctor of Ministry. With over 92% of graduates involved in ministry around the world, EPIC has proven itself to provide the training necessary to fully equip students.

A Bold Program

EPIC Bible College’s Doctor of Ministry degree is a bold program designed for the practice of ministry. While theologically advanced in content, our doctor of ministry degree is about more than gaining knowledge. Its aim is to empower the minister of Jesus to become a spiritually authentic transformational ministry leader. Being the highest professional degree for men and women already successfully engaged in ministry, we have some specific goals in mind for our graduates:

• We want our graduates to lead ministry from a rich and authentic interior experience with Jesus.
• We want our graduates to be more passionate about Christ and their ministry.
• We want our graduates to be able to translate reflection about ministry into innovative solutions to the complex and changing challenges of contemporary ministry. We are engaging and nurturing passionate, reflective practitioners of ministry. Therefore, graduates will develop high levels of proficiency in these areas:
• Developing intentional personal and communal practices that form and build the interior life of the minister and the community of faith.
• Understanding missional and cultural contexts, developing innovative practices that create healthy, Christ-centered communities of faith.
• Navigating diverse ministry and cultural contexts in order to deliver ministry that transforms people, community and culture.
• Demonstrating the ability to reflect biblically, theologically and spiritually about the practice of ministry.
